I’m super excited to share that I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award. This is awesome because we haven’t even officially launched!

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

This is an award that was created to help recognize all of the bloggers that are working hard to create great content for our readers, while also encouraging the blogger community to network and support each other. It is a great way to learn about different bloggers and share their information so we all can find great new blogs to read!

After we’re nominated, we share a little about our blogging journey and share advice for new bloggers.

Before I get started, I’d like to give a shout out and a huge thanks to Kathleen from Sweatpants and Top Knots for the nomination! She has a great blog, and you should check out my favorite article Unbroken Pre-School Rules.

About Piece of Cake Parenting

For years, I have loved the idea of starting a blog. It seems like such a great way to join the online community and share great information with people from all over the world. With that being said, I didn’t know where I would fit or what would be a good blog topic for me. I have several different hobbies and interests, but I’m neither passionate nor informed enough to be a blogging  pro for any of these topics.

After Baby J was born, I finally found my fit!

Throughout the newborn phase, I realized how much there is to raising a newborn and how little is shared with new parents. I went to the hospital for delivery and expected a parenting crash course before we left the hospital. That was certainly not the case.

They didn’t show us how to change a diaper, teach us what to expect, or even check that our car seat was in correctly!

Fortunately, as the oldest of six kids, I was lucky enough to have a lot more practice than most first-time moms. I have already changed hundreds of diapers. I’ve swaddled tons of babies (and my lucky cats *wink*) and I’ve spent hours mastering the art of soothing a crying baby.

Also, I have always loved being around kids and it comes fairly naturally to me. In fact, people always seem to call me a “child whisperer” since I tend to get along with kids even better than most adults!

But most first-time parents don’t have this luxury. Instead, they have to fumble through the parenting experience feeling frustrated and lacking confidence because they just don’t know all of the little tips and tricks.

This was when I decided that I wanted to share these tips and tricks. I wanted to form a central location where new (and veteran!) parents could go to learn the parenting basics, find ways to bond with their baby, and get the support that they were missing. My goal is to make parenting a piece of cake for moms and dads so they can enjoy the little time they get with their newborns.

Thus, Piece of Cake Parenting was born.

Although I am very new to this process (I just started everything in October of 2018), it has been such a blast so far. I’ve been able to network with other bloggers and tons of new parents to start building our community. And I’m so excited for the future here at Piece of Cake Parenting!

Tips for New Bloggers

I almost feel silly sharing tips because I’m so new myself! However, I certainly have learned a ton so far and would love to help others if I can!

1 – Find what you’re passionate about and go with it. You’ll know you have the right idea when your mind is bursting with ideas of topics to write about.

2 – Start building your community right away. Join groups and network with people in your niche as well as fellow bloggers. You’ll meet amazing people and have so much fun!

3 – Don’t compare yourself to other people or be worried that you’re not as good as other bloggers. You have your own story to tell and there are people that want to hear it.

4 – Remember why you are passionate about your blog. The technology and social media component can be overwhelming. Take the time to step back and remember why this is important to you.

5 – Never give up! Although the first days can be long and frustrating as you start to figure everything out, keep going and never give up on your dream to make it work!
