Unit 7: Finding Play All Around You and Weaving Play Throughout Your Entire Day
Welcome to the final unit of Module 1! You’re almost through the basics – woohoo! I hope these have been helpful so far and you’re able to look at play a little differently than before.
Today we’re rounding out our Baby Play Basics module to discuss the concept of finding play all around you. I’ll share examples to get your creative juices flowing so you can begin to find play in the things you’re already doing and in the things that are already all around you.
WHY IS IT HELPFUL TO LOOK FOR PLAY ALL AROUND YOU?
First, this brings out the kid in you and can spark a lot of fun in your interactions with your child.
And second, it reduces the stress of having to create the perfect play routine because you’re welcoming a playful approach to life.
WHAT ARE THREE TIPS TO MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND PLAY IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE?
1. Look for simple play all around you in the tasks you’re already doing and the things that are already around you.
2. Create modifications of activities you’re already doing with your baby.
3. Try to play your way through any problems or challenges that you’re facing with your baby.
I hope that makes sense and I hope you can start to see how you can begin to add in playfulness through your entire daily routine.
ASSIGNMENT: REFLECT AND ASK HOW YOU CAN ADD PLAYFULNESS TO THE THINGS YOU’RE ALREADY DOING AND CREATE PLAY OPPORTUNITIES OUT OF THE SIMPLE THINGS AROUND YOU.
After you finish, send me a quick email with your responses or if you want to brainstorm any ideas together.
